Take advantage of free skiing for your 5-6th graders

Free Skiing for 5-6th Graders in Colorado

Colorado has some great deals for kids.  Basically it is the resorts way of getting your kids hooked on skiing, but hey its still free skiing.  Both Vail Resorts and Colorado Ski Country USA offer opportunities for your kids to get on the mountain for free.  The Vail resorts chain which includes Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Vail and Beaver Creek offer 4 free days at each of their resorts for 5th and 6th Graders.  Colorado Ski Country offers similar deals free for 5th graders, and $99 for 6th graders.  This is a great and cheap way to get your kids out on skis!  We have used these programs for both of our girls!  See the links below for more information

Fun Family Golden Events Just around the corner

Just a heads up on some fun Golden events in the next several months...

Golden Hosts a huge trick or treat Halloween bash in downtown Golden on Washington Ave.  On October 31st from 3-6 all the merchants in downtown Golden open their doors and pass out candy to kids.  It is a fun, safe, and festive way to spent Halloween night with your family.  We have done it for several years, and in many cases whole families (including the parents!) dress up and cruise up and down Washington Ave.  On many occasions my kids come home with HUGE bags of candy!  That is not necessarily good news, but it depends on how you process those things.

Another awesome event in the life of Golden is the Olde Golden Christmas Celebration this December.  This event kicks off with the annual Golden Candlelight Walk on Dec 6 at 6:30, followed by the Christmas Tree lighting and the lighting of all the trees on Clear Creek.  It is an awesome night filled with fun friends, hot cocoa, Santa Clause, lights, horse drawn carriage rides and more.  We always look forward to walking town Washington Ave, lighting candles, singing Christmas Carols and visiting with all of our friends in the Community.  Then on Dec 7th, the Christmas parades and activities start in Golden, which is a hoot as well.  Great for young kids, a bit agonizing for the older ones, but definitely a festive time!  For more info check out this website Visitgolden.com

Checking in from the Front Porch

We are a family of 4.  Me Jeff, my wife Leslie, and our two daughters Emily 14, and Sydney 12.  It has been some time since us Foxes kept a blog.  In our previous blogs, we wrote exclusively about ourselves and our experiences.  Though we will continue to do so, we also want to highlight where we live, who we meet, and what makes this place so unique.  So, in this blog, our hope is to give our readers a window into our lives and the lives of people who impact us.  We also want to  highlight where we live, as a sort of resource for other families in Golden, Denver or elsewhere who want to understand what makes Golden and Denver a unique and fun place to live.  We would love to share ideas, places, stories, lessons and more that hopefully can educate, encourage, or just entertain anyone who might stumble upon this blog.
